Abstract/Summary

This article aims to explore the way in which realism shapes contemporary Spanish narrative through a comparative study between the works Miau (1888), by Benito Pérez Galdós, and Animales domésticos (2003), by Marta Sanz. The article focuses on the aesthetic and ethical dimensions of realist representation and brings out significant features of style that constitute the paradigm of contemporary Spanish realism.
