Abstract/Summary

Theatre, Performance and Politics in Chile: The citizens’ turn is a revision of theatre practices in Chile over the last decade and its relationship with the country’s socio-political context. This research proposes that Chilean theatre practice in Chile have experienced a shift regarding its political dimension, a shift I have termed the citizens’ turn (Giro Ciudadano). The first section of the introductory chapter gives a description of the socio-political context and factors that have triggered the emergence of the citizens’ turn within Chilean theatre repertoire.
