Abstract/Summary

Arthur does not feature prominently in contemporary Breton-language literature. The once and future king was predominantly perceived as British rather than Breton. However, the legend is appropriated by the artist, writer and novelist Xavier de Langlais (1906-1975), who merges Great and Little Britain into a single political and cultural unit under Arthur in his Romant ar Roue Arzhur.
