Abstract/Summary

This is the first full-length, scholarly assessment of the poetry and wider writing life of Alan Ross, editor inter alia of the London Magazine and author of many volumes of poetry. It details his interactions with British literary culture during the period from 1945 to his death in 2001. Figures considered alongside him include Larkin, Connolly, Walcott and many others. It also discusses his contribution as a war poet. It argues for his place within a history of post-colonial late twentieth-century writers.
